Planning

24/01/2017:

Today after our lecture and being introduced to the group project brief, Holly, Poppy and I went through each of the available topics for our group project. These included; stop smoking, healthy eating, prejudice and technology addiction. After this stage of the planning process we decided we wanted to focus on the topic of prejudice as this was more broad and gave us more of an opportunity to explore a wide range of prejudice topics.

We then went on to develop a further mind map which just focused on the topic of prejudice so we began to gain a clear idea about what we wanted to focus on for the project.

After a few weeks of completing group research tasks, this week we moved back to planning our own group project. We began by completing our own Gantt Chart so that we had a basic idea of what we were aiming to do each week up until the deadline date, from research to shooting and editing and finally printing.

Then we were set the task of creating a PowerPoint presentation which encompassed our influences for the four posters and our main ideas for each poster. As we had four team members on this day and four posters to create - we decided to each choose one topic which we felt comfortable in researching and taking a lead on that specific poster.

Holly - LGBT

Poppy - Homelessness

Jess - Feminism

Myself - Unseen (Mental) Illness

We then spilt off and completed 2 slides each for the PowerPoint to be ready for the following week and then had a re-group before the presentation began.

After the lecture today, I decided to make a sketch of the poster I had in mind to create for the unseen illness part of the project so that I could convey my ideas to the group. This was received well and as planned the week before, we went and used the studio to practice the lighting techniques we wanted to use so that when it comes to the actual shoot we have a basic knowledge of what we want to be doing.

For my specific poster I have decided to use low key lighting with a black background in order to highlight the face and shoulders. The sketch for my poster can be seen on the right:
